Owen Toms
Head CrossFit Coach
Owen is our head CrossFit coach and founder of Southern Quarter. His knowledge of CrossFit is extensive and he is our go-to for fitness advice.
Owen is a former diplomatic protection officer and military veteran having served in the Parachute Regiment. After spending years travelling the world, training remotely and gaining his experience with various fitness methodologies, Owen likes to focus heavily on functional training, especially CrossFit, picking up his L2, Kids CrossFit and Adaptive & inclusive trainer quals on the way.
Owen has a real passion for helping people to achieve their goals and take on new challenges through physical and mental fitness.
Craig Spicer
Head Crazy Strength Coach
Craig has worked in the fitness industry for nearly 20 years.
After going through 6 months of chemotherapy at the age of 26 he began to compete in Drug-Free Powerlifting, competing Nationally and Internationally. Over the last few years, Craig was also lucky enough to compete nationally in Olympic Weightlifting at the Masters Level.
Along with his experience in managing and developing athletes, Craig has spent the last few years delivering a plethora of education, workshops and seminars around Coaching and Strength Sports and can’t wait to use Southern Quarter as a base to develop that further.
Having worked for the British Army for the past 17 years, he has been the Head Coach for both Army Powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting from 2016 onwards.

Lead CrossFit Coach / Gym Manager / Team Smiler
CrossFit has taken Izzy from strength to strength and after years of leaning her trade. Izzy quickly became a qualified coach and followed her dream of moving out to the middle east, where for the last 2 years, has been a personal trainer and the Head coach for OX Fitness Lab based in Qatar. Not to be satisfied with just this, Izzy picked-up ‘Fittest in Qatar’ 2 years running and most recently she made it to the CrossFit Games semi-finials in the Team division, so you could say she’s pretty fit!
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of SCIENCE degree in sports science (Exeter)
- Level 3 Personal Trainer
- Level 3 Sports Massage Therapy
- Level 1 CF (Soon to be Level 2)
- Fittest in Qatar 2019 and 2020

Luiz
Chief Professor
Prof. Luiz Finocchio is a well respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Professor with a wealth of talent, experience and energy that he brings to the Southern Quarter team as well as being a very active, high-level competitor.
Holding a collection of BJJ Gold medals and an undefeated Pro MMA record, he has a wide range of skills to use in teaching BJJ practitioners of all levels whether in sport, for MMA (No-Gi), or for self-defence.
His passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, eye for detail, and the satisfaction he receives from teaching others ensures that his students at Southern Quarter will achieve high skill levels.
“I’m excited to share my passion for Jiu Jitsu. Watching my students develop on a journey and overcoming barriers. Oss!”.
Inder
SQCA Program Director and BJJ Professor
Prof. Inder first discovered BJJ in 2002 whilst working in South-East Asia, and on return to London began training under Roger Gracie.
Following his eventual promotion to Blackbelt, he founded and ran a large Martial arts and fitness centre in London where he met the owners of Southern Quarter. He now brings his experience to head up the SQCA.
His passion is teaching and instilling the fundamental techniques and principles of BJJ in an environment that gives the ‘gentle art’ the platform it deserves.
Medalling at European level (IBJJF Championships) in the Master’s divisions and Nationally in the Adult Divisions.

Jack
Head Professor
Prof. Jack Magee (Xuxa) is a Blackbelt in BJJ under ‘Gordo’ and is a well-known figure in the Jiu-Jitsu and MMA community.
He founded ‘MadHatters’, a now established Martial Arts Academy and Team in Chichester, who are known on the circuit as great competitors who are respectful of the art.
Besides many other titles/podiums in BJJ (and MMA) over the years, he is the current ALL SERVICE (All Military and BlueLight) Blackbelt BJJ British Champion in both ‘Gi’ and ‘No-Gi’.
